Adding a group to a collection file

Is there a way to group all the files and make them show up as a collection file in build mode etc??

Yes, have you tried the Collections Creator from DJs Sims yet? It's a quick and easy program to use, but I'd advise putting all the files you wish to group together in a folder just to make the task of creating a collection file for said group of objects easier.
