I was originally having some problems with my pc (nothing sims related) so I took it in to have a system recovery done. I got my pc back a few days ago. I installed my game (I own all EP & SP's), loaded it, created a new hood and family and started to play it. I had been playing for about 2 minutes when I decided to send one of my sims downtown. It loaded ok but after being in the downtown lot for about 1 minute my game crashed without warning. ever since then my game would crash randomly but always after playing a lot (any lot, even maxis made) for a few minutes. I tried removing my downloads folder, clearing my cache, disabling my anti-virus (norton 360) etc.. but nothing worked so I decided to uninstall my game and start again.

I have just finished reinstalling my game again (I installed everything except BV) but I am still having the same problems. I have tried removing downloads/neighbourhoods/saved sims files, then removing all user files etc.. but nothing helped.

When I reinstalled my game I made sure that after I installed each EP I then installed the relevant patch.

I have tried everything I can think of yet my game still crashes. I know it can't be my memory/video card as before I had the recovery done everything worked fine.

I've included an attachment of my system specs

Any help would be greatly appreciated

If your game is generating an error log it would be helpful if you attached that to a post as well. That will have specific information relevant to the crash.

Here's your problem:

System memory: 512 Megabytes total, 16 Megabytes free.

You have the bare minimum total ram to run the game, and with all the other things going on in your computer, it's eating up your available memory until you only have 16 mb of the 512 the game needs to run. So, your solution is upgrade your RAM. I would suggest having no less than a total of 1gb, 2 is optimal.

Hmm... that's weird because when I click on properties it's saying I have enough free space (see attachment)

Sorry if I seem dumb but I don't have a clue when it comes to the insides of a PC. Thank you for all your help :-)

I'm not talking about the space on your harddrive, I'm talking about your RAM. That's what's meant when people refer to the memory on your computer. Sims needs 512 mb of free memory, which is all you have to run your entire computer. Even with closing down all background tasks, you still won't have quite enough free memory to run the game, which is why I suggested you upgrade your RAM.
