Hello, everyone!  Welcome to Insimenator.org's Sims 3 Picture Forum! Here, you'll find all of your favorite themed threads, ready to be posted in.  

Before posting, though, there are a few things you'll need to know... most of them are the same as our Sims 2 Picture section, but with a few new additions:

• Please remember to follow all of the Site Rules and Guidelines.  Tolerance for repeat offenders has decreased since the changes, so remember to keep yourselves updated on what is expected from all users here on this site.  

• Remember to make sure that you have one (1) picture per line.  Having two relatively normal sized pictures side-by-side has a habit of breaking the forum frame just as bad as having one over-sized picture in your posts.

• All pictures are to be no more than 600 X 600 pixels in dimension, suitable for a PG-13 forum, and hosted on a third party image hosting site only,  (Photobucket, Tinypic, Imageshack, etc.) meaning do not attach an image to your post in this section. Images attached to posts will be removed, as we're conserving as much server space as we can for custom content uploads and their one preview attachment in the Community Downloads section.   *emphasis added for clarification*
  
  Images that exceed the maximum dimension limit in either width, height, or both will also be deleted, since it seems to be a growing problem. Please resize your pictures accordingly beforehand so you won't have to worry about who deleted them and why.  Or, you can use the following code to resize your bigger images appropriately:

  (Make sure to delete the asterisks (*) before using it, though, or it won't work.  Also, if you don't want "smushed" looking pictures, proportional scaling would definitely help instead of putting in exactly number above.  For more info, please refer to the Post #2/Reply #1 below.)
  
  Though it is a nice trick to do, we would prefer that you share the direct links to pictures that are bigger than the maximum size, so long as you do not wrap image tags around hosted pictures that are larger than the forum's set limit, unless the above code is used.
  
  If your images have been removed due to them exceeding limits before, keep in mind, you are still very welcome to repost them to fit within the dimension requirements.  Just make sure not to repost the exact same-sized image as before, since it will just end up being deleted altogether again.    

• As admirable as another user's pictures can be, and as tempting as it is to simply quote one of their posts with every single one of their pictures included, please refrain from quoting pictures.  (Once again, doing that saves those with slow connections loading time.)  If you must quote another user's post, please remove all image related links or BB tags from the quote area before posting.  If not done, any quoted pictures will be removed, and repeat offenders will be reminded after a certain amount of removed images.

• Please do not start new themed/personal picture threads in this section.  If you feel that there should be a new category added, let us know through PM, and we will start the thread off for you.

• Please resist the urge to hotlink pictures directly from other web sites or image accounts without permission... stealing other people's bandwidth without permission is rude, and it will lead to the deletion of your post, plus a warning.

• Try to avoid double/triple/quadruple (or any number of back-to-back) posting if possible, as it is considered a form of site spamming.  If you need to add on any additional info to your posts, please use the "Modify" option located in the upper right-hand corner of your posts.  From now on, any double posts that are made will be merged together, so don't be too alarmed if your post count drops slightly.  Although, if had to be done on too many occasions and you have already been reminded several times, the posts may end up removed altogether.

• Please refrain from dragging any of these threads off topic just to discuss gaming politics/etc... we know some users in this section as a whole have had at the game plenty of times already, but we ask that you leave that to the designated threads in the discussion area.  Once again, repeat offenders will be warned.

• Please reserve all "Where did you get/Where can I find" questions for the Sims 3 "Pudding WCIF" section.  Another alternative would be to PM the users who have pictures of the items in question that you are looking for.  We're requesting that you be sure to put either system to good use instead of taking picture threads off topic.

Just to clarify what I mean by "proportional scaling":

If I wanted to downsize a picture that was 800 x 600, but don't want to make smaller duplicates or touch the original, I could use an image-editing program's proportional scaling option to see how much smaller it needs to be without getting distorted* by inputting 600 in the box with the largest number, and use those same numbers in the code that comes up in the boxes... which in the previously mentioned case, the best outcome would be 600 x 450.  What it would look like in the code:  

[*IMG width=600 height=450*] (insert 800 x 600 pixel picture link here) [*/IMG*]

Another example:  if I had an image around 700 x 600 pixels, sizing it down to around 600 x 500 would also work okay.  

So you don't have to use exactly 600 x 600 when you use the code, since that would most likely make your pictures either squished or stretched if both sides aren't equal width and height.

*(a good example would be using GIMP, choosing the Image => Scale Image option, looking at the top two boxes labeled Width and Height, and making sure that the "chain link" icon to the right of them is shown as "linked" and not "broken".  Whichever dimension has the largest number, input 600 and the other side will automatically calculate to how many pixels it needs to be in order to be proportional.)
